Landing page is the web page where our website visitors arrive at after clicking on a link. It could be our home page, or any other web page in our Web Site. The best use of a landing page is not what it is, but what it can do. Our landing pages should provide a customized sales pitch for the visitor. The best way to do this is consider where the person has come from, and who is the visitor, by providing a good match, our chances of engaging the visitor goes up, as should be our conversion rate.

Well crafted landing web pages almost always sport better conversion rates than simply dumping people into the home page of our web site. When we drop people into the homepage of our website, it’s wrong to make visitors fend for information themselves. Visitors arrive and spend a couple of seconds before giving up and hitting their back button to move on to our competitor’s website.

In most of the cases Search engines are not different from regular users. Search engines cannot go anywhere that a regular user cannot go. If we have a password protected area on our website that cannot be accessed without a login and password then the search engines also cannot see it.
