Miss world 2010 gala event kicked off with a traditional Chinese dance, followed by the preface of the 120 contestants from across the globe.  An American Teenager Alexandria Mills was crowned as Miss World 2010 on Saturday 30th October. Miss Botswana Emma Wareus was named the 1st runner-up and Miss Venezuela Adriana Vasini was named the 2^nd runner up.

The jury comprises earlier Miss World winners Denise Perrier Lanfranchi (1953), Ann Sidney (1964), Mary Stävin (1977), Agbani Darego (2001) and Maria Julia Mantilla (2004).

The 18 year old Alexandria Mills depicted herself as a positive, spontaneous, open minded and outgoing person according to the reports.

India 2010 miss India world Manasvi Mangai failed to find a place in the top 20. Manasvi danced to the classical number “Dhai Shyam Rok Lai “from the famous 2002 film Devdas.

Miss World Alexandria Mills a high school graduate became the 60^th woman to triumph the blue placed on her head by Miss World 2009 Kaiane Aldorino from Gibraltar.

Jimena Navarrete from Mexico wins 2010 Miss Universe Contest.

Miss Universe is an annual international beauty contest run by the Miss Universe Organization. Jimena Navarrete a 22 year old brunette from Mexico was named Miss Universe for the year 2010 in Las Vegas on August 24^th 2010.

Jimena Navarrete received the 2010 miss universe crown from 2009 Miss Universe winner Stefania Fernandez.

Miss Universe pageant is one of the most publicized beauty contests in the world. Miss universe contest was founded in the year 1952 by California clothing company pacific mills. The pageant became part of kayser-roth and then gulf and western industries, before being acquired by Donald trump in 1996. Miss universe changed its name from Miss Universe, Inc to Miss Universe organization and the head quarters moved from long beach, Los Angeles to New York City that year.

Donald trump brought new team of professionals to the contest headed by its new CEO, Molly Mills, and the president Maureen Reidy. Miles coined the slogan “Redefined for Today” for promotion of the pageants. The new miss universe logo was born in the same year: – The woman with the stars, which is still used today.

The current Miss Universe is Jimena Navarrete, from Mexico. Jimena won the title on August 23, 2010.
